Accentuations of the First Volition

The First Volition is an unconscious function and therefore does not hold the process of forming desires and intentions in its sphere of attention. In the eyes of the 1V, desire appears already in its finished form, and from there it can either be realized or suppressed. At the same time, their own desires do not change from interacting with others. Since the First Volition is an introverted function, its owner is oriented towards their own desires and their realization, and sometimes may not notice that other people also have their own aspirations that do not fit within the framework of their self-realization. And, as a subjective Volition, this function prefers to influence others according to its own aspect, either imposing its decisions on them or simply confidently following its own path and not leaving others with a choice but to accept it.

There are three different models of behavior characteristic of the First Volition, which are related to which of the listed properties is more pronounced in this function. Let’s consider them in more detail:

Accentuation: unconsciousness

This First Volition shows visible indifference to goal setting and self-affirmation. They may consider themselves lazy and incapable of achieving their desires. External motivation does not help them at all if there is no internal incentive to strive for a particular goal. To be honest, the unconscious accentuation of the 1V suggests a desire to get everything at once, rather than spending time and effort on achieving the set goal. This is the reason for the seeming lack of confidence and leadership qualities of this First Volition, which can easily be confused with the 4V, especially if their accentuations coincide. To distinguish them, one should pay attention to the following points. Firstly, it is impossible to impose any decision on the 1V, especially if it concerns fundamental issues, while the 4V can be persuaded, and it is easier for them to fulfill your request so that you leave them alone. Secondly, the 1V does not blame anyone but themselves for their problems: for them, every person is the master of their own life. Don’t expect sympathy from them when complaining about fate. The unconscious accentuation of the First Volition is the least goal-oriented of all.

Accentuation: introversion

This type of the First Volition attaches great importance to self-affirmation and the realization of their ambitions. It is typical for them to talk a lot about themselves and to set an example for others as a successful person with the right outlook on life. Accentuated on principality, the First Volition believes that their way of self-realization is the only correct one and looks down on those whose goals go beyond their understanding. Typically, they gather a group of followers who share their aspirations. Since this type of First Volition pays more attention to society and compares themselves with others, they can be confused with the conscious introverted Volition, the 3V. The differences between them lie in the properties of Conscious/Unconscious and Subjective/Objective. In other words, 1V does not need the help of others in making decisions and external motivation in achieving their goals, while these are very important factors for 3V, on which their confidence and ability to move forward depend. Thus, this type of First Volition can be called the most self-confident and ambitious.

Accentuation: subjectivity

This First Volition strives more than others to influence those around them in regards to their goals and desires. While other types of the First Volition follow their own path, not imposing it on anyone, this type of 1V with a pronounced subjectivity cannot stay away from people. It is typical for them to realize themselves in some common cause, direct other people and give them tasks. If they do not work in a team, they will manage household members or guide their friends onto the right path. This behavior is similar to how 2V motivates and inspires others. However, there is a significant difference between them, and it lies in the fact that the Second Volition is oriented towards other people’s desires, to help another person understand their aspirations and follow them, while for the First Volition, their own desires are more important. They set a goal and push their subordinates in its direction, without thinking that people may have other goals. Accentuated on subjectivity, the 1V likes responsibility more than others, controls not only themselves but also their environment in their activities.
