Valued/Unvalued

Function properties Valued/Unvalued can be defined in three different ways, each of which will correspond to its own stage of information processing. Valued functions are mental strong and vital weak, accepting tracking and productive insulating, as well as ordered inert and cluttered contact, whereas unvalued functions are mental weak and vital strong, accepting insulating and productive tracking, as well as ordered contact and cluttered inert.

With Valued functions we like to perceive, process and assimilate information. Their aspects form our worldview, so we tend to interpret many phenomena through them. When interacting with information through them, we do not feel internal resistance: on the contrary, we want to develop primarily in the areas of the aspects of these functions.

In turn, with Unvalued functions we tend to limit excess information. We are not interested in topics and phenomena related to them: as a rule, we look at them through opposing aspects. Even feeling confident in the areas of these functions, we still do not strive to realize ourselves through them. These functions are for us only something necessary for life, but nothing more.

Valued/Unvalued is one of the most important dichotomies of the information metabolism, so when typing, it is worth striving to determine it first: to understand through which information a person perceives the world, what they are most interested in and what they strive for in terms of self-realization.

The valued functions include Leading (1), Creative (2), Suggestive (5) and Mobilizing (6) functions. The unvalued functions include the Role (3), Vulnerable (4), Ignoring (7) and Demonstrative (8) functions. These function properties are the basis for dividing types into two pair of traits: Decisive/Judicious and Merry/Serious.

Decisive are types with valued aspects of extraverted Sensing and introverted Intuition in combination with unvalued aspects of introverted Sensing and extraverted Intuition, while Juducious are types with valued aspects of introverted Sensing and extraverted Intuition in combination with unvalued aspects of extraverted Sensing and introverted Intuition.

In turn, Merry are types with valued aspects of extraverted Ethics and introverted Logic in combination with unvalued aspects of introverted Ethics and extraverted Logic, while Serious are types with valued aspects of introverted Ethics and extraverted Logic in combination with unvalued aspects of extraverted Ethics and introverted Logic.
