The Third Volition is a complex triad because its issues cover all areas of life. 3V is the person who “wants something unclear”. They have a lot of ambitions and a lot of doubts about themselves. These people seem secretive from the outside. At the same time, they react sharply to disrespect towards themselves, ignoring, and get offended where others would not find a reason.
Getting to know 3V better, you definitely come across their complexes: whining on the topic “I am a nobody, a loser, I will not achieve anything in life” – the norm for Third Volitions. It looks like they find new reasons for self-humiliation. However, if the situation becomes critical, 3V suddenly performs volitional actions that change their life, which invariably surprises others. In the right moment, 3V knows how to pull themselves together. These people are responsible, which is explained by two reasons: they are collectivists and care about the common cause; they are afraid to let others down and to face disapproval.
Understanding the subtleties of social hierarchy is a constant pursuit for 3V. They strive to realize and raise their status in society, while evaluating other people from the point of view of their place on the social ladder. 3V often have problems with a sense of humor. It’s hard for them to laugh at themselves; they like cruel jokes that humiliate people – again, this is related to the hierarchical consciousness of this function.
Third Volitions are inclined to defend their social status by any means – including lies and pretense. They use “pretense” to try to show themselves as better than they really are. Their slogan is “better to seem than to be” (unlike 1V, for example). At the same time, 3V understand well other people’s torments about status, and try not to hurt other people’s self-esteem unnecessarily.
